02/06/2026 19:20 PM Every day, and I wish this was an exaggeration, I hear some person or another state with their full chest, that "privacy is dead". Rage boils up inside me each and every time. It only gets stronger each time. Privacy is dead because you killed it you stupid fuck. YOU handed your data over to Meta and Google. YOU posted your entire life on Instagram for everyone to see. Don't you fucking dare come at me complaining privacy is dead when you have its blood dripping off your hands. You're holding the goddamn knife. I've done everything I can in my life other than going completely offgrid to protect my privacy. I've used linux since I was a teenager, I use only open source software where available. I've evangilized, screamed my lungs out into the crowd that what we're doing will be the end of us. Yet, I was called crazy. "YoU dONt NeEd PRIvAcy uNLEss You'rE HiDiNG SomEthIng". Now you cry about the DoJ and ICE tracking you for speaking out. This is your fault. YOU did this "for the children", because "the government want's what's best for us". Ben Frankiln said "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary saftey, deserve neither liberty nor saftey." you've dug this grave, now you get to lie in it. If you would've picked up a single dystopian novel and actually read and comprehended the message, we wouldn't be here. So now you're left with two options. You lie down and die in this hole, or you dig your way out, tooth and nail, scraping your fingers to bone. You have to force yourself through the discomfort, just as I did. I was a teenager. Giving up social media and normal services like Google photos, or Windows for gaming stunted my social life. Yet I pulled through. People very often looked at me like I was weird or crazy and that was just something I had to learn to live with. The masses crave comfort, but nothing good is comfortable. Anything worth something is going to be painful. It's going to come at a cost. That's what gives life meaning. Sitting on your phone, scrolling short form media doesn't provide you any real enrichment. When you're on your deathbead you won't be proud of those thousands of hours you spent contributing nothing to anyone. It's going to be uncomfortable, but it's necessary. The best part, you're not alone, there are more like you, like me, out there, ready to help. My friends recently decided they want to move away from Discord and their new draconian age verification. Within a few hours I had a Matrix chat server set up, private, decentralized, self-hosted our data belongs to us. You don't have to be a techie to be private, you just have to ask for help. Please, I'm begging on my hands and knees, reject this dystopia, stand with me. Fight back. It doesn't have to be this way. Here are some simple switches you can make now, in less than an hour: - Use Signal for messaging and phone calls - Use adblockers like UBlock Origin or browsers like Brave - Use privacy respecting email like Tutanota or Proton - Use email and phone aliases with MySudo - Use data broker removal services like EasyOptOuts - Use open-source alternatives to apps where possible Here are some more involved but very good fixes: - Use privacy respecting Operating Systems like Linux and GrapheneOS - Self host services like Nextcloud for cloud storage and Jellyfin for media - Delete social media, host a blog or use messaging services instead. - Read up on privacy from places like the EFF or Techlore's "Go Incognito" - Donate to or voulenteer with the EFF We can win this fight, we must. Failure is not an option. You may stop this individual but you can't stop us all, after all, were all alike. - Hacker Manifesto - 0xVoodoo
